BSB B-481. – Erste Bibelausgabe mit dem umfangreichen Kommentar des Dominikaners Hugo von Saint-Cher (um 1200-1263). – Der vorliegende zweite Teil enthält den Psalter. – Der Psalmentext und der umgebende Kommentar jeweils zweispaltig gedruckt. – Die gesamte Ausgabe erschien innerhalb von fünf Jahren (1498-1502). Ein Kolophon findet sich nur am Ende des letzten Bandes. – Vereinzelt mit kleinen Randschäden und stellenw. mit Wasserrand in den weißen Rändern, die letzten vier Bl. mit kleiner Fehlstelle im Kopfsteg, das letzte auch im Kolumnentitel (kleiner Buchstabenverlust), gering fleckig.

First edition of the Bible with the massive commentary or postilla by Hugo de Sancto Caro. The French Dominican (ca. 1200-1263) was the central figure in the intense campaign of biblical studies carried out by the Dominicans of Paris in the 13th century. He was lecturer in theology at the convent of Saint-Jacques in Paris and climbed the hierarchy becoming Provincial of France and afterwards Cardinal Priest by Innocent IV in 1244. His massive commentary was late in reaching print and slightly overtaken in popularity by the equally impressive commentary of the Franciscan Nicholas of Lyra in the 14th century. The complete edition was produced over five years (1498-1502). Colophon only at the end of the final volume. – Sporadic small marginal damages and sporadic waterstains on the white margins, the last 4 sheets with small damage in upper margin, the last also in the column heading (small loss of letters), slightly soiled. – Somewhat later wooden boards with a restored calf spine with 2 clasps and 1 corner fitting.
