Unser Gemälde zeigt wohl kein konkretes Schloss, zumindest konnte es bislang noch nicht identifiziert werden. Dennoch fühlt man sich gleich an das bekannte, auf einer felsigen Insel gelegene Eilean Donan Castle, Doune Castle oder Dunnottar Castle erinnert, wodurch sich die Ansicht in einen schottischen Kontext verorten lässt. Das besonders in der aufgewühlten See in grünlichen Grau-Blautönen gehaltene Bild erinnert an die Ansichten des bekannten englischen Malers Stanfield, der sich nach einer Zeit als Theatermaler auf Marinebilder spezialisierte. – Mit kleinen Abplatzungen an den Kanten, leichtem Abdruck des Keilrahmens und leicht vergilbtem Firnis.

Nevertheless, one is immediately reminded of the well-known Eilean Donan Castle, Doune Castle or Dunnottar Castle, which places the view in a Scottish context. The greenish grey-blue tones of the picture, especially in the choppy sea, are reminiscent of the views of the famous English painter Stanfield, who specialised in marine paintings after a period as a theatre painter. ?
