Jesuiten in Bayern 222. – Bedeutende, auch unter dem Titel „Welt-Bott“ bekannte Quelle zur Missionsgeschichte im 18. Jahrhundert, da Joseph Stöcklein (1676-1733) zahlreiche Briefe deutscher Missionare veröffentlichte. Die ersten 24 Teile wurden noch von Stöcklein selbst herausgegeben, nach seinem Tod übernahmen Ch. Meyer, P. Probst und andere diese Aufgabe. – Die Kupfertafel mit einer Kompaßrose, die Karten von Kalifornien und Mexiko, Ägypten und Äthiopien, den Marianen und Philippinen, der Türkei und Persien, dem Königreich Carnate in Nordindien und Nagasaki. – Wieviele Karten zu dieser Ausgabe gehören, konnten wir nicht in Erfahrung bringen; im Handel werden zu den ersten vier Teilen auch Exemplare mit Karten von Palau und Peru genannt. – Innengelenk angebrochen, Frontisp. mit Eckausriss (kleiner Bildverlust), die Titel mit geklebten Blattweiserausrissen, stellenw. mit kleinen Randschäden und Wurmspur am Bug, in Tl. IV, S. 11/12 nach S. 13/14 eingebunden, fleckig und gebräunt. – Mod. Exlibris.

Important source of the missionary history in the 18th century, as Stöcklein (1676-1733) had published various letters of German missionaries. The first 24 parts were published by Stöcklein himself, after his death Ch. Meyer, P. Probst and others took over the task. – The copperplate with a compass rose, the maps of California, Mexico, Egypt and Ethiopia, the Matiana Island and Philippines, Turkey and Persia, the region of Carnate and Nagasaki. – We were not able to determine how many maps should actually be in this work; there are copies on sale with maps of Palau and Peru. – Inner joint cracked, frontisp. with ton corner (small loss of image), title with restored margins after removal of pointers, sporadically with small marginal damages and small worming at the inner margin, part IV, p. 11/12 rebound after p. 13/14, soiled and tanned. – Contemporary calf (joint cracked, small damages, scuffed and bumped).
