Sabin 37230. Mendelssohn 808. Borba de Moraes 433. Hill 914: "extremely rare". – Second edition of this first-hand account of the expedition which led to the capture of the colony at the Cape of Good Hope from the Dutch. Paradoxically, Lieutenant Keith makes very little mention of the military and naval actions at the Cape, concentrating on the voyage itself, the places visited and the life and manners of people encountered. Keith commanded His Majesty’s Brig Protector, and set sail from Spithead on 25 August 1805 as part of a convoy of nine vessels transporting one regiment of Dragoons, eight regiments of the Line as well as detachments of Royal Artillery and Engineers. They reached the Cape of Good Hope in January 1806, having called in at Madeira, Bahia, San Salvador and Rio de Janeiro en route. – Titel am Bug angefalzt, tls. leicht fleckig, durchgehend gleichmäßig gebräunt. – Selten.
