Eines von 145 Exemplaren, das „Exemplaire de présent U“ für Victor Bérard. – Monod 6075. – Äußerst seltene Prachtausgabe aus dem Besitz des Altphilologen und Politikers Victor Bérard (1864-1931), aus dessen Feder die vorliegende Übersetzung stammt, mit großartigen Art-décoIllustrationen des Genfer Malers François-Louis Schmied (1873-1941) in kräftigem Kolorit. Die Holzschnitte wurden ausgeführt von Schmieds Sohn Théo Schmied (1901-1985) und von dem bekannten Graphiker Jean Saudé mit zusätzlichem Kolorit und Höhung in Gold und Weiß versehen, was sie wie von Malerhand geschaffen erscheinen läßt.

Luxe edition, completely printed on vellum. – One of 145 copies, here „Exemplaire de présent U“ for Victor Bérard. – Extremely rare edition de luxe from the library of the classicist and politician Victor Bérard (1864-1931), who also provided this translation. Adorned with magnificently colourful illustrations by Genoise painter François-Louis Schmied (18731941). The woodcuts were executed by Schmied’s son Théo Schmied (1901-1985) and additionally coloured and highlighted in gold and white by the hand of designer Jean Saudé, giving them a painting like appearance. – Loose vellum sheets in flexible original vellum wrappers in original vellum covers with blind-tooled leather end papers and original vellum slip cases (those slightly dusty and somewhat scuffed).
