Although Della Torre’s work is almost forgotten today, he was strongly influential in establishing the scientific climate of eighteenth-century Italy." – Zweite Ausgabe des erstmals 1748-49 in Neapel erschienenen Werkes (Brunet 4477). – "Illustrations of particular interest are those of units of measurement, the pendulum, electrostatical machines, the pointing of mortar, the compressed-air gun, the refraction of light rays, and chyliferous vessels in man" (DSB). – Innengelenke gebrochen, beide Bände im Tafelteil am Bug mit Wurmspuren (selten kleiner Bildverlust), stellenw. etw. wasserrandig und gebräunt.

Second edition of the work first published at Naples in 1748-49 (Brunet 4477). – Plate part with worming at inner joint (mostly outside illustration border); partly minimally browned and occasionally soiled. – Contemporary vellum with spine label (hardly rubbed and scuffed).
